Acrylic Bathtubs

Sheets of Acrylic are fired at high temperatures, molded, toughened with fiberglass then reinforced with metal or wood. Air tubs and whirlpools are often acrylic tubs. Acrylic is available in a wide array of shapes and styles is lighter than iron or steel. It does have a high gloss surface comparable to the look on steel and iron cast tubs. This high gloss makes it visually appealing but also very slippery especially with water. In the most recent statistic released the Center for Disease control and prevention (CDC) estimates over 205,000 fatalities occurred from falling in the US between 1999-2009. Obviously the combination of water and the slick hard surface of the tub/shower floor make the bathroom the most at risk place for injuries/deaths from slipping. Please make sure to stay safe and treat your bathtubs to make them less slippery.
